Want to know what to expect or need some help with your outfit planning?

Here’s a peek at the style and information guide for Spring Mini Session:

Before you rush off in a panic, here are my seven top tips for a successful session:

  1. Before spending money on new outfits, I highly recommend going through your closet and seeing if you have anything you already own that you can revive and re-discover. Make sure you give yourself a few days before your session to plan and get anything additional for the family that you may need.

  2. Although you don’t need an excuse, treat yourself to a blow-out or a mani or even booking a session with makeup artist before your session to make you look and feel your most confident self.

  3. When planning your outfits, think layers and co-ordinating over matching.

  4. Neutrals and simple plain colors work great with fun accessory details.

  5. The more relaxed you are, the more the rest of the family will be too. A mini session can feel a little rushed and sometimes chaotic with kiddos who decide on their mood with each passing second. Breathe. Have fun.

  6. Try to arrive 10 – 15 minutes before your session begins and if you have little ones, always have a back-up outfit plan (and lots of wet wipes!)

  7. My biggest tip of all – head out on a family date after your session and soak up the start of the spring season together. You deserve it!

I feel that wearing neutral tones not only places the emphasis on your beautiful face, but will also help achieve a timeless look in your photographs so that you can be proud of them for years to come. The great news is that these colors are super easy to find in stores right now, and the heavy emphasis on pastels with subtle gray and neutral undertones means that they coordinate well with each other. My advice is to mostly plan your around the neutral tones, then throw in pops of these color here and there. Top it off with a few hints of accents (silver, gold or both work as they are both neutral and eye-catching) and interesting textures (lightweight knits and laces work great in spring), and you are on your way to having a look that will be sure to photograph well.

As always, please contact me if you have any questions or want a little advice during the planning process. I can’t emphasize enough that what you wear really can make or break the feel of a photograph. We want the emphasis to be on you and your beautiful family, and we want the outfits you choose to compliment and not take away from that focus.

Happy planning!

I can’t wait to create BEAUTIFUL photographs for you!
